Scholar Data Analysis

Data received from weekly mastery trackers will be used to tailor lesson plans for the upcoming weeks in order to maximize academic outcomes. At the end of the program a detailed data package will be provided to our partner principals highlighting growth, scholar qualitative summaries, and attendance rates.

We recruit scholars directly from your school as part of our onboarding process.


Join us for three, 1-hour workshop sessions followed by a 1-hour panel discussion on "How to Be Successful as a New Teacher in the Classroom" with Q&A, featuring representatives from Uncommon Schools, Teach For America, Student Success Network and Practice Makes Perfect! Light refreshments will be provided.

Behavior Management

In this workshop, participants will learn how to create a classroom of high expectations through having strong classroom management. Participants will practice using 2-4 different techniques to increase engagement as well as 6 different techniques to address behavior in the least invasive way possible.

10am - 11am
Rigorous Questioning

In this workshop, participants will learn how to effectively craft Check for Understanding questions. Facilitators will support participants in creating higher-order thinking questions that challenge students and push the rigor in their classrooms.

11am - 12pm
Collaborative Conversations

In this workshop, participants will be introduced to various ways of leading discussions in your classroom. Participants will also be introduced to the elements of a Socratic Seminar and how to effectively facilitate it in the classroom.

Don Taylor

Associate Director of Recruitment
Uncommon Schools

Don Taylor is an Associate Director of Recruitment (Outreach) at Uncommon Schools. In his role, he is responsible for attracting and recruiting highly-qualified teachers for high-need schools in Brooklyn, New York. Prior to joining Uncommon, Don served as a Teach for America Corps Member and an English Teacher at a Title-I School in Atlanta, Georgia. In this role, he taught English Language and Literature courses to students with varying learning needs, including students with exceptionalities. He also previously served as a Human Capital Management Consultant at Automatic Data Processing LLC—the largest provider of HR Services in North America, Europe, Latin America and the Pacific Rim. Don holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in English Language and Literature from Morehouse College.
